Tax Deductibility of Donations

All donations paid to the Trust are either held in the Trust’s bank account or invested with major financial institutions. Donations are dealt with strictly in accordance with the donor’s wishes and all donors who request Section 18A certificates for tax purposes are provided with these by the administrator of the Trust.

Any prospective donation tax benefit accruing to the donor will be regulated by the country in which the donations are made. The Acorn Trust is a registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) and enjoys S18A status which permits the issuing of donation tax certificates to South African tax-payers, who may donate up to 10% of their net taxable income to us without incurring donations tax.

Supporting Bursary Students

Established by the parents and staff of Somerset College, the Acorn Bursary Trust (ABT) is a registered Public Benefit Organisation that believes education is the greatest form of empowerment.

Through the building of a capital fund to support current and new bursary students for their full five years of high school, the ABT has brought the excellence of Somerset College education to deserving candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds for over 10 years
